Day 2

We woke this morning to the sound of the rooster. We stretched, and breathed in the warm air. Looking at the clock we saw that it was 5:30 in the morning. We had a slow and calm start of the day. Since we did not have a church yet, we hopped in our car and headed off to drive on the winding roads of the island. Stray chickens were wondering the streets, and the sun was dancing in the horizon. At the end we reached a small cafe called “Hafa Adai”. The restaurant was filled to the brim with conversation and happy faces. The smell of breakfast surrounded us like a spell. We filled ourselves with food, and traveled through beautiful green landscape down to the long tan shore line. An endless blue spanned across to eventually meet the sky. We sat down and enjoyed the view for a while, although we couldn’t swim because the current was too strong. The sun beat down without mercy though, and we had to seek shelter in our tiny apartment. The rest of the day was spent by collecting groceries and settling in.
